2021 Jasnières ‘Les Rosiers’, Domaine de Bellivière

Off Dry Chenin Blanc from vines under 50 years-old in 4 different parcels with flinty clay soils over limestone. As always, aromas of white peach, pear, lime-flower and wet stone; the palate is very mineral and crisp with firm acidity with white and yellow fruits and a beautiful tender yet stony finish. In 2021 the weather provided for wines that were not completely dry (20g/l RS) but please note they are laser fresh and delicious with superb acidity and tension - this wine will cellar 15-20 years or more, a great wine.

Jasnières and it's neighbour Coteaux du Loir are tiny appellations 25 miles north of Tours on the smaller Loir River in the central part of France's Loire Valley. Both appellations produce delicious dry white wines exclusively from Chenin Blanc. The wines are rare, and in the case of Eric Nicolas, amongst the greatest white wines produced in the Loire Valley. This is indeed an incredible source of wine.

These are hand made wines in the extreme and Eric has established himself  as the point of reference in this part of the valley and commands a serious and sincere domestic following, particularly amongst Sommeliers.
