2014 Barbera 'Donna Margherita', Az. Agr. Giovanni Rosso

Rich, intriguing nose of black cherry with hints of earth, spice and tobacco. After some time elements of chocolate and faint herbs emerge from the glass. The palate has a very satisfying, mouth-watering tang that gives way to a surprising richness and layered flavour - the texture here is very smooth and generous.

Az. Agr. Giovanni Rosso is a small, family-owned 12 hectare estate, located exclusively in the Serralunga d'Alba hamlet of Baudana, in the Barolo region. The Rosso family have been Serralunga d'Alba vineyard proprietors & grape growers since the 1890s before starting to bottle wine under the 'Giovanni Rosso' label in 1995.

Decanter Magazine ran an article called “Italy—Stars of Tomorrow” where they asked established and well respected winemakers to nominate a star of the future from  their own region. Roberto Conterno of the celebrated Barolo producer Giacomo Conterno nominated Davide Rosso “Davide Rosso has great respect for the vine and the land, making pure expressions of Nebbiolo”.

This is indeed a truly great source of wine that is picking up accolade after accolade in the press. The style is for elegant, perfumed wines with wonderful structure and complexity.
