2014 Rully Blanc 1er cru “Meix Caillet”, Eric de Suremain

This is a wonderful wine from a very small parcel in the Rully vineyard of Meix Caillet. This shows as Chablis-esque with sea spray, iodine, and white flowers framing the aromas along with very gentle (and classy) reduction. The wine is very racy and pure in the mouth where it shows it's class - long, stony and very precise. Lovely and classic white burgundy, not relying on ripeness and wood to get it's message across.

For a big bear of a man, Eric de Suremain produces the silkiest, most elegant and delicate Burgundy you can imagine and they are wines that I often bring out simply to surprise people at their quality.

His bio-dynamic methods, some of the Côte d’Or’s lowest yields (often on a par with nearby Domaine Leroy), rigorous grape selection and his minimal intervention winemaking policy conspire to produce some of the purest, finest and most complex Burgundy available.
