Barolo

Isacco Costamagna is the young man behind Barolo’s brand new Castrum Roche. From his grandfather he inherited two prime hectares in La Morra in 2014, all in the Torriglione cru once blended into the ‘Berri’ Barolo of Trediberri; it was was once labeled as a Rocche dell'Annunziata parcel by Roberto Voerzio, AND is on a handful of Bartolo Mascarello labels

From 2017 to 2020 Isacco sold his estate fruit to his neighbor Trediberri whilst working for Luigi Oddero and neighbor (and living legend) Lorenzo Accomasso. At this time he also got his degree in viticulture & oenology from University of Turin. It was in 2021 that he turned his full attention to making his own wine, keeping the fruit for himself and launching the winery with a Langhe Nebbiolo.

The 2023 is only the third vintage of this wine and he has us patiently waiting for when he releases his first Barolo (in 2027) from the same site. Watch this space!
