WHITE WINE

2025 Hochkirch Riesling 'Towards Laidlaws'
This has the steely centre that characterises many Western Victorian Rieslings but instead of the usual citrus profile, this wine has blossom, pollen and green apple aromas. It’s incisive and vibrant mouth feel and tingling natural acidity give this characterful wine tension and balance.

2023 Muscadet 'Granite- Les Perrières’, Jerome Bretaudeau
Muscadet "Granit" is from granite soils and old vines planted in 1920; this produces very fine, very mineral wine; tight as a drum yet silken and sensual, it tastes of flint and flowers and is very inspired drinking. Next time one of your customers asks you about 'terroir' you could pour them a glass of this by way of explanation. This is one of the great Muscadet's available today and a special bottle that will keep for years if you have the patience. Really stunning

2024 Olaszrizling FKT, Fekete Somló
Olaszrizling is no relation of the Riesling you may know, it's also known as Riesling Italico, Welshriesling and Graševina. Carefully hand-picked the wine is naturally fermented in 1000L Hungarian oak barrels before short maturation in barrel and tank. Super fresh, vivid, herby, slightly salty white with a ginger-pepper spicy finish. Herbs, lime and peach on the nose. Gooseberry, almond, green apple in the mouth. This is a beauty!

2024 Pigato DOC Riviera Ligure di Ponente 'Majè', Azienda Agricola Bruna
This wine is all elegance, freshness and minerality. Intensely scented with fine floral and citric notes alongside aromatic herbs and Mediterranean scrub. Fresh and succulent on the palate, it pinches the cheeks with it's precision and elegance.

2024 Krettnacher Altenberg Riesling Spätlese Trocken, Hofgut Falkenstein
The 2024er Krettnacher Altenberg Riesling Spätlese Trocken comes from 50–60-year-old vines in the Enkers part of the vineyard. It shows a finely aromatic and attractive nose of yellow peach, greengage, herbs, thyme, mint, and almond. The wine is intense and tight on the palate, with still quite some herbal and spicy notes. The finish is hugely long and salty, and fully bone-dry in taste. There is a touch of tartness in need of integration before true pleasure. This is an aromatic, yet racy Riesling. 2029–2044 91+/100 Mosel Fine Wines

RED WINE

2024 Mas Coutelou, Mise de Printemps Grenache
This sprightly, bright early bottled Grenache makes it's return to our list; very juicy, succulent and vibrant it is the perfect wine for this Spring - in fact Printemps means Spring in French! Again, you will have to hold back to avoid going too fast!

2023 Langhe Nebbiolo, Castrum Roche
This is a superb discovery in 2024; from the heart of La Morra comes a project from a very talented and driven man, Isacco Costamagna. Superb terroir has given grapes that have yielded a knockout wine! aged only in steel, it is both attractive and contemplative in youth, not an easy feat at all. This has definition and superb finesse and clarity - as hard as it may be, keep some bottles for later...

2023 Cheverny Rouge 'Rouillon', Clos de Tue Boeuf (2 BOTTLES)
50% Pinot Noir, 50% Gamay from a small parcel of clay and flint soils over limestone of Blois. 2022 is a great superb for the reds from Jean-Marie and Thierry Puzelat at Clos du Tue-Boeuf as the wines show extraordinary ripeness while retaining lovely balance and freshness. The 2023 Rouillon shows bright, floral tart plum, raspberry and wild strawberry aromas with citrus and earth. The palate is ripe and sappy with wild strawberry, plum skin, earth and spice. The finish is long with citrus and mineral flavors and a bit of tannin. Irresistible now, this should be very interesting after a few years in the cellar. Another Icon

2023 Côtes du Rhône Rouge Villages Plan de Dieu 'Querelles de Clochers Rouge', Domaine Tourbillon
(From old vines Grenache, Carignan and Syrah) This is a step up - attractively dark with a bright red hue; the bouquet has real depth, an air of crushed raspberry, with brush and garrigue. It's rich and sultry, the texture from the old vines is nicely oily. A fine intensity follows in the mouth, but the tannins are super fine. The finish fans out with red cherries and a note of attractive spice, the finish is very harmonious. This is excellent!

2023 Harkham Winery, Aziza's Shiraz (Preservative free)
Produced from old vines around Broke and Pokolbin, this is a rich and flavorsome red as you would expect from the Hunter Valley but has brightness, freshness and real vibrancy. Super quality and certainly the best release yet from this excellent estate

2021 Bandol Rouge, Domaine de la Tour du Bon
Produced mostly from Mourvèdre but with 25% Grenache,Cinsault and Carignan the  Bandol Rouge 2021 has an attractive deep colour with a graceful, open nose that displays blackberry, spice, bay leaves and pepper; it is both carnal and virile.
It is also very fresh in the mouth with serious concentration - with this 2021 vintage tone is blue and fruit driven, the finish offers a pretty, violety inner-mouth perfume. Finishes long, deep and satisfying. This powerful but well balanced wine will repay time in a cool dark cellar. A bargain for this quality..
